DESCRIPTION:

The Amendoeira Golf Resort, opened in 2008,is the newest addition to theOceanico Group of luxury Golf Resorts.

The resort is set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Central Algarve. Laidout on over 600 hectares ofwhat were originally oliveand lemon groves and barren grazing landin the foothills of the Monchique mountainsof the Algarve,3 miles inland of the beach resort of Armação de Pêra.

The resort offers unashamed luxury with two championship golf courses designed by two of the best golf course designers in the world, football pitches, tennis courts, bowls, swimming pools andvery expensive villas.

The golf facilities are also second to none. The clubhouse is simply luxurious with several bars and comprehensive catering facilities. The professional shop offers full equipment hire plus Calloway Custom Club Fitting service and the practice facilities extend to a 9 hole, 700 meterAcademy Course.

There are two18 hole championship golf courses, one designed by Sir Nick Faldo and one by Christy O'Connor Junior, different in layout and style but both superbly designed and immaculately presented.

TheNick Faldo Course is laid out on the northern side of the resort in the foothills of the mountains, the more barren terrain and theincorporation of rocky outcrops and meandering water courses gives it anArizona stylemountain/desert coursesfeel. Faldo designed the course very consciously withstrategic play in mind and so thecourse, whilst offering fantastic views of the surrounding countryside, demands you pay attention to your shot making in order toscore well. A final point of note, the back nine is very hilly and a long walk!

The O'Connor Course is laid out on the flatter land in the valley tothe south of the resort. Certainly no less challenging than the Faldo Course but perhaps on prettier land (and an easier walk) it features numerous lakes and interconnecting streams with views across rolling orange groves. The entire course area, plus surrounding lands, are to be maintained as a wildlife sanctuary. As you would expect from a Christy O'Connordesign there are some fantastic memorable holes which demand attention if you are to score well.

Visitors are always welcome but prior booking is essential.

Great test of golf!

I played here twice as they have 2 different courses - The Faldo and the O’Connor courses. Both are a real test of golf. Buggies included in the package and you really need them as some of the tees are a fair distance from the last green! Some great holes to play on both courses and some great views.
the clubhouse is great offering all sorts of food and drinks to cater for your groups.
Practice facilities are great with a driving range and numerous putting greens.
All in all a great place to spend a couple of days golfing. Plus the weather helps even though it was a tad windy which reflected the high gross scores!!

The O'Connor course offers a challenge to mid-high handicap players whilst low handicap players will find it easier to score on.
The Faldo course is difficult for mid-high handicap players due to the location and size of sand bunkers. Low handicap players will have to be on their game to score well. Both courses are maintained in excellent condition and the practice facilities are superb.
