First time on a golf simulator, and I loved it !!

After turning up at this impressive pub with not only a large farm shop, in a barn, at the back, we were welcomed in, by the owners, to an even more impressive barn with three very high tech golf simulators.

After settling in with a round of drinks, which were ordered and brought to your table, we cracked on with our round of golf. We thought we would break ourselves in gently, so, decided to play The Old Course at St. Andrews, lol. I must say, the graphics on the screen are most impressive and it does actually feel like you're hitting a ball on The Old Course.

It took a while to get used to the indoor surroundings, but I soon forgot about that and started to really enjoy it. The one thing I did find was I had to go a club longer for fairway shots which wasn't a problem at all.

At half way we took a break, and again, ordered table service for food; I had the Cheeseburger with Bacon and Fat Chips and it was superb.

We finished the game and I managed to score 95, which definitely wouldn't happen if I were actually there, ha ha. The game took about three hours with food and drinks breaks and a lot of chatting with the owners; this could be cut down significantly if just concentrating on the golf.

To sum up, I absolutely loved my time on the simulator and will definitely be back; if they open one up closer to where I live, (Rochester); I will be going there two or three times a month in the winter. The cost of playing is excellent too, if a group of four of you go for three hours, it works out at just over £20 each, now that's good value for money, see you soon guys !!!

Indoor golf at its best...

It's always nice to be asked to review a start-up business (or in this case, a golf-related business that has just started), so it was great anticipation that I made my way to the Virtual Golf Lounge in Fulmer.

VGL is just 5 mins from Junction 16 on the M25, to the West of London in Buckinghamshire.

Like Steve states below, I have tried a few 'golf sims' over the years and whilst I am always impressed with the technology, but only now do I feel that it lives up to the hype.

However, the first thing to say is this is not just golf it's a golfing experience...

Of course, you will play golf while you are here, sample course you can only dream of playing in real life but also enjoy freshly prepared food served by The Black Horse Pub in your bay.

Visit the new Farm Shop with local meats and produce and if you've still got time, enjoy an evening in one of their outdoor igloos too!

I think this is definitely the future of golf and I expect it won't be long before 'Indoor Golf' becomes an Olympic sport.

Now sure after my '10' on the 15th, on the Old Course is going to win me any Gold Medals, but I look forward to returning to this superb golf studio, sooner rather than later.

A nice spacious venue, the latest technology and nice friendly and informal staff - 5 stars!

Golf a different way!

Virtual Golf Lounge is a different golf experience as you play in a barn off a pub, no walking or weather distractions, we were greeted by the owner and showed to our bay (there are 3 bays available) for the evening (you book in hour segments) we had bay from 6 - 9 pm detailed show of how the system works (which even a complete technophobe like me could grasp quickly).

We ended up choosing St Andrews old course for our match but there were loads of courses you could play as well as other games for group comps (Nearest pin, Longest drives, Capture flags), Playing inside towards the big screen at first was off putting because you feel a little enclosed although there was a lot more room than you felt whilst swinging, due to this our distances were quite a lot shorter than expected although we did improve and relax as our session went on.

Food and drinks are available from the very friendly and knowledgable staff we only had burger and chips but there was a quite extensive menu.

As a 3 ball we took nearly two and a half hours to complete St Andrews although this was with a lot of chatting to the owners and eating food during our game so I think you would comfortably knock over 30 min off that if not more if you was just concentrating on your play.

Ive hit into a few simulators and I can say this was easily the best ive played with the Trackman system telling you everything you would want about your striking and probably some stuff you'd rather not know. It is quite a long trek round the M25 from my side at Dartford but I feel I would happily go back especially on a dark evening or a wet weekend.
