Ok Course

Holes and fairways run almost in parallel with eachother meaning on a few occasions rogue balls from other holes would land on the hole I was playing. Even had a rogue ball collide with my trolly.

Very busy course with a lot of slow playing happening.

Good Course

Played here many times, always a good course to play. Greens are in fantastic condition. Fairways are hard. Tee boxes need work on, which they are going to start doing (Moving them, levelling them). So the course will will be re-measured.
Always a good breakfast served and the staff are friendly too.

Not a bad course played better

I was looking foward to playing this course and i have to say i was a little disappointed. It didnt really present much of a challenge and i cant remember one stand out hole.Very wide fairways so you shouldnt lose any balls, greens ok on the hole it is a ok course but thats it 5 out 10 wouldn't be tempted to go back in a hurry

Course Needs A Little TLC & Too Many Ditches

I haven't been to Weald of Kent for several years, but writing this, I remember why, TOO MANY DITCHES !!! Nearly every hole has some form of water hazard, with most of them being ditches right across the fairway. Needless to say, unless you are a big driver of the ball, you will venture into a few of them. The course itself is ok but the greens need a little TLC after the poor winter as there were a few small bare spots which would hinder your putting. Also, the semi rough was brutal, IF you found your ball in it, it was difficult to get a good contact on your next shot. The clubhouse itself is lovely, very modern with food being served up to 9pm.

what a lovely day for golf and a beautiful course to match it,absolutely stunning.it was my first time here.i spent a lot of time in the sand but didn't get down about it because the course was immaculate.my favourite hole was the 11th, its a short par 4 at 289 yards and with the wind behind me I almost drove the green but landed in the bunker to the right.the staff are friendly and the brekkie was self service.all in all a very enjoyable day and would fully recommend

Excellent condition & always a warm welcome.......

A return visit to this popular venue, this time with the Pine Tree society's monthly game. It was a sunny, warm day. Very pleasant and winter rules applied.

I can report that the course is in excellent condition, fairways very nicely kept, hardly any divots, the greens were superb too. Unfortunately some bunkers had standing water due to the heavy rain from the 2 or 3 previous days. The green areas were roped off to prevent damage from the trolleys or buggies, a good idea to keep the course in tip-top condition.

The Clubhouse still as pleasant as usual with friendly staff. Food is very good, portions are really generous and can easily be shared. The chips were succulent...

The Pro shop is friendly & helpful, stocks the new winter "goodies" and believe it or not there were some Galvin Green items in the sale.... The shop also run a very large on-line golf business, apparently just down the road, "gollfgeardirect.co.uk", with very competitive prices.

As this is very popular venue due to the easy access,, a brand new hotel is being built (actually nearly finished) as an extension to the Pro shop, in keeping with the traditional Kent style building. This is where the Pine Tree Golf Society will spend their annual 2 days away next Summer.

In all very impressed with everything this Club has to offer, well worth the long journey from Twickenham. Cannot wait to return, in the meantime I shall wear my newly acquired winter golf shoes (booties type with warm lining) to make winter play more pleasant.

Pretty amazing value

What a great little place to go for a golf break. This is definitely built for purpose. Plenty of parking and good facilities, together with a sweet little hotel comprising 18 rooms, just the right size.
The ladies changing room is small, but with everything you need and for me, included a warm welcome from 3 of the lady members. I was disappointed that the pro shop did not stock even a small supply of ladies clothing, as during my stay, I witnessed many ladies playing. The bar and catering staff were excellent hosts and the seating offers a choice for relaxing, watching television or sitting outside on a lovely terrace overlooking the pond just in front of the 18th green. Dinner and breakfast were definitely designed to satisfy a group of hungry golfers.
The golf course is quite quirky and very challenging. I think it is important to be able to start a game being able to try and launch a drive and not being a long hitter, it was incredibly disappointing that I had to take an iron and lay up, as there was a strategically placed ditch ready to punish. As the game continued, I realised there was a pattern emerging with the ditches, but perhaps I should also add that I was not on my game and so I have to take some of the medicine. There was definitely a disadvantage with the stroke index and position of some of the red tees, vs the yellows, in particular the 6th Par 3 is Ladies Stroke Index 9 and Yellow Stroke Index 7. Ludicrous! The position of a couple of the ladies tees vs Yellows are disadvantaged and block the fairway. The course is a good test for your short game and love the feature 9th and 18th, bringing ponds into play with an erratic shot. Give this a try. You will not be disappointed.

Pleasant set up with on-site hotel...

Weald of Kent is an attractive course with lovely views of the Weald, hence its name, but due to its geographical location, very often subject to winds, oh my God on Saturday 15th, there were howling winds making this challenging course extremely difficult, specifically so for the not so long hitter like me.

Lots of natural hazards, will mention the 14 ditches & when strong wind is present it is difficult to select the correct club as the ball flight will react to the gust at the time, it was the same for the putting on the beautiful, well maintained greens.

Wide fairways, so the thick rough can be easily avoided, some climbs and lovely Par 3s & water features.

Favourite holes were: 9th, 13th, 16th & 18th.

I did my Epping Bandits Matchplay against charming David I. The battle was won at the 18th by David's magnificient putt. Thoroughly enjoyed the company but did not manage a good score, will remember the 11th & 13th which I got Par and my good putting.

Ash T. managed a brilliant deal for us: £20 on a Saturday, great value, thanks for that Ash.

Large/airy Clubhouse & pleasant service. Good food/drinks at reasonable prices.

Well stocked Pro-shop. Do not have Lady's gear but offer an on-line service whose address I was given.

Practice putting greens and nets for pre-round warm up.

Large Car Park for Hotel & Golf. Easy location to find from J8 M20.

Will return but only if calm weather on the horizon.

Finally....:

Beware, if you book on line, your details may not be be "transferred over"/"passed on" in time, this happened to the Group teeing before us who were TSGers , but they were re-accommodated none-the-less, having to start on the 10th.... All is well that ends well.

Photos coming up shortly, but I am having problems re-sizing them to fit on the TSG website. I am not that technically minded.

Nice find....

Heard of this course but always dismissed it on account of being too far from home... but I was wrong to do so! The course is only a few short miles from the heart of Maidstone and it took me under an hour from Essex. The club entrance tells you that the course is going to be in good condition and the layout doesn't disappoint. The course starts with an uphill Par 4 and plays fairly up and down til the 6th and then the course starts to define itself. Wide fairways suggest a forgiving course but down be fooled, the rough is punishing and the wind very hard to judge - lost count the amount of times my bag was blown over! However, I would like to go back and play on a calmer day, as the greens are true (although a little fluffy when we played). The staff were very friendly even if the bar prices were a little heavy! Well done to Ash for getting a good deal - a good price at £20 each - I look forward to returning soon!

Great value nice course

Had a great deal at £20 thanks to our host Ashe tofte.
Course in lovely condition. Greens true if a little slow, fairways nice and bunkers( only found one) were in very good condition with lovely soft sand.
Thought at first the course was a bit up and down but it did develop. Two lovely signature holes ( 9th and 16th ) certainly made it memorable.
Slight criticism of the the course ..most holes had ditches to negotiate from the tee which tended to make it a bit samey
lovely clubhouse with tentative staff. Nice selection of food albeit a bit pricey. Had a chat with a few of the members who were very welcoming and hospitible.
All in all enjoyable day and would certainly pay again

Great course, great weekend away

This was a weekend break booked with one of those companies that specialise in this and what a great choice it was.

First of all the course. So two rounds over the Saturday and Sunday. Every hole has something and if your straight a good score is coming your way. Plenty of areas to loose a ball or 10 if not.

Bunkers where well kept, greens were very good, if a little slow but some prefer that. Fairways were pretty good and holes such as the 9th and 18th are pretty amazing to look at from the club house and even more so to play. The par 3 16th is a pretty little hole over water. Every hole was pretty good actually. I really liked it here. It's always easier the second time you play a course and this showed in a drop of 16 shots and an increase in 14 points by myself. I m actually playing this again next weekend, by coincidence due to company corporate day and im alread looking forward to it.

The weekend itself. £95 for B&B, evening meal and the two rounds. Great value. Rooms are just what you need, a bed, hot shower, kettle a door and a window, what more is there to life, oh yeah a tv. That's there too!!

For the evening meal you can choose anything off the 3 course menu and if you want anything off the steak bit it's an extra £4 unless you do not have a starter or a pudding. I didn't have a pudding as I was well stuffed as food is good and decent portions. Drinks are very reasonable as well. Certainly cheaper than what I pay around Ashtead anyway. Staff were all friendly, helpful and cheerful and the clubhouse come restaurant was basic but cosy enough.

Breakfast was a help yourself buffet. My favourite, and it had everything you would want really, hot and cold, and tea and coffee on tap.

I would make sure you don't forget any equipment or short on balls as the club shop was pretty slim on stuff and what they had was well over priced in my opinion. Go to Direct or American golf on the way if you need anything.

There is a putting green and a couple of nets to warm up, no range but we did see what looked like a practise area but not sure how to get to it so didnt go to it.

I would definitely go back here on a weekend but as there are loads of offers i will try others first but a once a year trip here wouldn't be the worst thing I did. Even a day trip to just play is something I will do as they have some great offers.
